this is what it looks like when bees swarm in and occupy a parking space on the street.they were doing something slightly simlar to our garden staircase a while ago...
bees can be quite scary when they do that -- even a hardened dragon like myself, who pooh-poos the family's hysterical reactions to the insects, trod warily on said staircase as the bees were installing their buzzers.
after twiggy's web research showed that the best organic gardening advice on colonising bees was "leave them bee" (heh), we decided to skirt the problem. i got out hammer and nail, and carpentered a beautiful step over the new hive.
afterwards, we pretended we'd planned to do that all along.
